The two days
Day 1 · Friday 15 January
Carve your model in foam
Every one of Lorenzo’s pieces begins as a model carved by hand. You choose a ring or a pendant, saw a foam block to size, then shape it with files and carve curves, hollows and texture with a flex-shaft and ball cutters.
- Saw the block to size
- Shape it with files
- Carve curves, hollows and texture
- Refine the edges with needle files
Day 2 · Saturday 16 January
Finish your piece in metal
You work a piece cast in bronze or silver from Lorenzo’s models: cut it free, file it, sand it from 240 to 600 grit and polish it on the wheel. Then you colour it with patina and polish back the high points so the texture shows.
